The small bankrupt municipality in the Free-State which is still under administration has still managed to pay a municipal manager R2,9 million a year for 2 years, making him the best paid government official in South Africa! However his position was defunct as a Bankruptcy Administrator had been appointed, it seems, only to plunder the public coffers even more, as this “Administrator”, Moses Moremi was the one who signed the 99 Year lease to give the Gupta’s a rent free farm for the Estina Dairy scam!

It has just been revealed that Mojalefa Matlole, who just resigned as municipal manager of the Mafube municipality, the bankrupt municipality which serves Frankfort, Villiers, Tweeling and Cornelia in the Free-State, was earning a massive salary package of R2, 9 Million per year, which made him the highest paid government official in South Africa and that includes premiers, national cabinet ministers and even the vice President.

Zimbabwe had land expropriation as the spark that caused its economy to implode. South Africa has a slower, but equally insidious, government policy that is pushing it backwards in time: Black Economic Empowerment (BEE).

This warped system has enabled corrupt individuals to benefit personally from contracts as the country’s key services have steadily eroded. While BEE provided the mechanisms for state capture, the SA-specific term for wide-scale graft, it has also facilitated the spread of parasites that have, and continue to, suck the life-blood out of the country. This is the assessment of environmental expert Professor Anthony Turton, who warned some years back that Eskom was in critical condition – but no-one was listening. Now raw sewage flows in many streets and the electricity is turned off for hours on end, in what looks like a return of sorts to the dark ages, he points out. Minister of Police accused of corruption but strongly denies that he benefited from State Capture

The man with the big hat, who draws heavily on the American cowboy forms, has now pulled out his pistols and is looking for the guilty liars.

The Minister of Police, Bheki Cele, rejected the accusations that he had benefited from distributing gifts during the state capture.

A so-called “secret witness” said the head of the police service is linked to the gift of a luxury vehicle, but Cele says the witness must show where the vehicle is.

Allegations that Cele was involved in “crime intelligence” but there is also no clarity about this, although it was alleged that he received R40,000 on occasion, but the information was vague and also unconvincingly communicated to the commission.

12 Municipalities in the Eastern Transvaal are under suspicion of mismanagement and corruption – R2 billion worth of wasteful expenditure incurred

The Zondo Commission, which raises millions of rand from the state treasury, has now had to shift its focus to the Eastern Transvaal to hear evidence of corruption and state capture in state-owned entities.

Corruption in many municipalities in the province, as well as mismanagement and maladministration, seems to have been addressed.

At least 12 municipalities are suspected of being guilty of corruption and mismanagement, and it appears the municipalities of, among others, Piet Retief, Lydenburg, Carolina, Balfour, Volksrust, Ermelo, Standerton, Middelburg and Delmas and three location municipalities are in danger .

According to a report by the Auditor-General, about R2 billion of expenditure was incurred unlawfully among the municipalities, and more than R236 million was a mere waste of funds.

Of all the illegal expenses, one particular case was pointed out in excess of R5 million paid for repairing a road that does not exist at all.

Guptas at it again – workers unpaid but lavish R100m double wedding planned – most likely funded by the ANC-regime?

The Emirates Palace hotel in Abu Dhabi where the Gupta family are reportedly hosting a lavish double wedding in February 2019.

The Guptas are reported to be hosting a lavish double wedding at a palatial hotel in Abu Dhabi.

The AmaBhungane Centre for Investigative Journalism published a nine-page wedding invitation on Friday and said the bash, an event lasting five days between February 19 and 23, could end up costing as much as R100m.

“The wedding is a double-feature, with Rajesh ‘Tony’ Gupta’s daughter Shubhangi Singhala marrying Chetan Jain and Atul Gupta’s son Srikant Singhala tying the knot with Akhya Bansal.

“This is the third publicly lavish wedding the family has funded,” said AmaBhungane.

The logos of Gupta companies in South Africa, including the Koornfontein mine where miners have gone unpaid, are featured in the wedding invitation.

Ramaphosa’s share in SA’s dilapidated state is questioned and his latest press release is inconsistent: “I did not deliberately mislead Parliament about R500 000 Bosasa donation”

President Cyril Ramaphosa, in a statement to the Public Protector, says he “did not deliberately mislead Parliament” regarding the R500 000 Bosasa contribution to his 2017 ANC presidential campaign.

The statement follows Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane confirming on January 25 that she would investigate whether Ramaphosa had lied about a campaign donation received from controversial facilities company Bosasa, now known as African Global Operations (AGO).

Mkhwebane’s decision came after DA leader Mmusi Maimane and EFF leader Julius Malema on several occasions said that Ramaphosa had lied to Parliament about the money his ANC presidential campaign received from Bosasa CEO Gavin Watson. Ramaphosa met with Mkhwebane on January 29, to discuss the donation.

Bosasa has received billions of rands in government contracts over the past decade and has been implicated in alleged corruption.

It pays to be the son of the most corrupt president SA ever had – NPA to ‘drop’ corruption charges against Duduzane Zuma

The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) is expected to provisionally withdraw corruption charges against former president Jacob Zuma’s son Duduzane in the Specialised Commercial Crimes Court on Thursday.

Duduzane Zuma’s lawyers have declined to comment until the court process is finalised on Thursday morning. NPA spokesperson Phindi Mjonondwane Aldo said the state would comment only after Thursday’s court proceedings. Business Day understands that the NPA sent a letter to Duduzane Zuma’s lawyers on Tuesday, notifying them of the provisional withdrawal of the charges.

The exact reason for that withdrawal is not known at this time, but follows the NPA’s decision to provisionally withdraw charges against Gupta family members and associates late in 2018, in connection with the alleged Estina Dairy Project scam.

The Secretary of the Commission investigating State capture, dr. Khotso De Wee had to go on “leave” after it was revealed that he also received Bosasa bribes.

The accusation was made on Friday, the third day of Angelo Agrizzi’s testimony before the Commission.

In addition to the accusation against the secretary, it is also another point of reference as to what extent the actual situation of corruption in South-Africa seems to be.

Agrizzi said he was informed that De Wee secretary was one of several senior officials at the Department of Justice who received Bosasa bribe money.

Observers say it now appears that the country is totally rotten because of corruption, and that this is probably just the peak of a massive iceberg corruption.
