Man-hunt launched after thirteen awaiting-trial prisoners escape from police holding cells in Polokwane

A task team has been established to hunt for awaiting-trial prisoners who escaped from police holding cells in Seshego outside Polokwane over the weekend.

Limpopo police spokesperson Col Moatshe Ngoepe said the prisoners escaped on Friday evening. A task team has been established to hunt for the prisoners. They were arrested for business robberies and for contravening the Immigration Act.

They were identified as:

SA trapped in web of violence – 55 Murders a day, increasing rape while hijackings and robberies are the norm today – Will capital punishment really be the solution to violent crime?

Violence in South Africa has increased to such an extent that citizens across the country are pleading with the communist-minded ANC government to bring back the death penalty.

The spate of rapes occurring across the country has caused women and even members of parliament to ask that the death penalty should be reinstated so that the culprits will get the punishment that they deserve for such hideous crimes.

However, the ANC’s Minister of Correctional Services is not so keen to take the step, and several Afrikaner folks believe this is not a solution to the problem.

The country is experiencing more than 55 murders a day, and rapes that are rising at an unprecedented rate, while hijackings and armed robberies have become commonplace.

Teacher involved in the kidnapping of 6-year-old Amy-Leigh

A fifty-year-old man and two women described by police as the protagonists in Monday’s kidnapping drama of 6-year-old Amy-Leigh de Jager were arrested at their homes in Vanderbijlpark on Wednesday, September 4, around midnight.

Amy-Leigh was grabbed from school by her mother, Angeline, just after 7:15 a.m. Monday morning, and kidnapped by four men in a Toyota Fortuner with darkened panes. She was found crying along the road at the Shakespeare Inn in Faraday Boulevard, Vanderbijlpark, on Tuesday, September 3, by a man and a woman.

A teacher at College Park Primary School in Vanderbijlpark is reportedly one of three suspects arrested in connection with the kidnapping of Amy.

Police did not want to respond to allegations by Wednesday afternoon that the elementary school teacher – who is believed to be a good friend of the family – was involved in the kidnapping.

Gwede Manthase became the laughingstock at a conference in Australia by making scandalous mistake in delivering a April’s joke as part of his speech

The Minister of Mineral Resources, Gwede Mantashe, became the laughingstock of the world with his speech at a conference in Australia.

The speech written by someone then made the outrageous mistake of inserting an April joke as part of the speech, which indicates that South Africa had discovered a new mineral, and he couldn’t boast enough about this new wonderful discovery.

The April joke also states that the new mineral has been discovered in the Western Cape, and the minister says the mineral is essential for the production of battery storage technology.

The nonsensical joke proclaimed to be the truth made listeners in the conference wonder if the speaker was going senile, as it had nothing to do with the actual topic of the conference.

The information originally came from an April joke that was handled by an extremely ignorant speech author, and an ignorant minister in a laughable way.

The SABC wants to increase your TV licence fees- But who are actually still paying for this service that only caters for a certain group of people?

The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) is looking at increasing its TV licence fees as the embattled state broadcaster continues to face financial challenges.

In a parliamentary presentation on 28 August, the SABC said that it has drafted and sent a proposal to increases TV licences fees to communications minister, Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams.

However, SABC board chairperson, Bonamisa Makhatini, has made it clear that this increase may not be enough to cover the broadcaster’s many expenses.

“There had been eight increases in 24 years,” he said. “If the fee were to be increased, it had to be considered what was affordable. Content had to be attractive and compelling.”

One of the key problems with raising TV licences is the issue of compliance with the broadcaster reporting a compliance level of just 27.8% in October last year.

Cabinet will discuss calls for return of death penalty amid rising violence against women in SA

Justice minister Ronald Lamola has promised to take calls for a referendum for the return of the death sentence to the cabinet.

The calls have been made amid the background of rising violence against women in the country, particularly in the wake of the brutal rape and murder of student Uyinene Mrwetyana, which brought the question of gender-based violence and femicide back into the spotlight.

Lamola and minister for women in the presidency Maite Nkoana-Mashabane were addressing the media on Tuesday.

Lamola said he could not decide alone whether or not to bring back the death penalty, but that all he could do was to take the matter to cabinet for discussion – and then for approval or disapproval.

“Whether we are open to referendum or not, at this stage I cannot say… It is something we can take further as a discussion to the cabinet,” said Lamola.

MTN general manager Ernst Paul says the vandals are doing serious damage to the industry,

He says the stolen equipment causes serious communication problems and the persistent theft of batteries at cellphone towers leaves wide areas without cellphone services.

In addition to the interruptions caused by the theft of batteries, it costs MTN millions to replace the stolen goods.

The company is calling on the public to be on the lookout for such criminals, and notify MTN, or any other mobile phone company.
