4-6 Farm attackers strangled Timothy Rademeyer (51) with a scarf and cut his private parts with a sharp object in a barbaric attack that happened Tuesday night, or in the early morning hours on Wednesday, in the Welbekend area in Bapsfontein, Gauteng. Timothy’s partner, Dirkie Voges (61), was also seriously injured in the farm attack.

The couple were found on Wednesday morning after Dirkie managed to walk to the nearest road. A good Samaritan passerby, Mr Ian Jackson, saw Voges next to the road at around 07:30 and drove her to his cousin, who is a paramedic living nearby. He and his cousin, Candice Allison, then drove to the farmhouse where a bloody scene awaited them.

They found Rademeyer with a scarf tied so tightly around his neck that they had to cut it off. Rademeyer had deep cuts to his arms, head and also private parts. Rademeyer and Voges were both also brutally beaten and kicked. Voges sustained concussion and her ear drum had burst from

SA chrome firms warn of more than 1,200 job cuts – Eskom’s unreliability and rising tariffs were some of the main reasons for the layoffs

Joint venture partners Glencore and Merafe Resources could cut up to 665 jobs and have started consultations with workers at their Rustenburg ferrochrome smelter.

Local chrome firms on Monday warned of more than 1,200 potential job cuts, citing power cuts, rising electricity tariffs and increased competition from overseas.

The potential layoffs highlight the risks posed to Africa’s most industrialised economy by struggling state power utility Eskom, which is struggling with breakdowns at its coal-fired power plants and is mired in a financial crisis.

They also pile more pressure on President Cyril Ramaphosa’s government, which is trying to contain 29% unemployment.

They came to fleece him for his gadgets, a cellphone, tablet & TV… his life was a mere hindrance to them. A momentary pause to pull the trigger before grabbing the few gadgets and fleeing. Riaan Barnard (52) of Germiston was shot dead last night Tuesday 14 January, at about 21:00, whilst sitting on his veranda at his house, peacefully smoking a cigarette, which tragically turned out to be his last.

He was surprised by 2 murderers. His mother-in-law told Maroela Media that the only other person in the house was his life partner, Esme Swanepoel (49), who was busy inside the house at the time. According to Esme she just heard Riaan shout “NO” and then she heard the shot.

The 2 killers, black males, then ran into the house where they pointed the gun at Esme, before they fled with the tablet that Riaan had with him, a cellphone and a TV. Esme found Riaan outside with a gunshot wound in the stomach.

409 Farm attacks and 56 farm murders in 2019 – Slaughter of white farmers in SA increases, especially in rural areas

The massacre in rural areas has increased in recent years, according to the latest available figures on farm attacks and murders.

Henry Geldenhuys, deputy president of the agricultural organization TAU SA, says that according to their statistics, there were 409 farm attacks in 2019 compared to 395 farm attacks in 2018, during the same period 56 murders on farms tenor 53 of the previous year. However, he continues by stating that the figures may be even higher as December is not over.

According to Geldenhuys, there were even farm attacks on Christmas Day in Harding respectively in KwaZulu-Natal, where a farmer was attacked with a knife, in Kakamas in the Northern Cape, where a family was attacked, and in Bapsfontein in Gauteng, where a farmer was assaulted. Another statistic – Farmer Henry Brown (77) of Uitkyk in Nelspruit passed away on the morning of 24 December 2019. He had been hospitalized since a brutal farm attack on him, his wife and son on their farm in the Uitkyk area, Nelspruit on 3 November. He was in a serious condition the whole time after he sustained a massive head injury during the attack and his heart stopped 2 times in a hospital in Nelspruit in the days after the brutal attack on him, his wife Martie (74) and son Tommy (53) on 3 November. The Browns have been farming on the farm for 53 years… growing food for the people who attacked them…
