The far-left Max du Preez will again try to get a newspaper going, but this time it will be an internet newspaper that will help him not to go away so soon after it has been rolled out.

Du Preez decided after 25 years to try again to start a newspaper, this time the Vrye newspaper in e-form.

The original Vrye Weekblad was instigated in the 1980s by Du Preez, due to a frustration that the mainstream press lacked the courage to tackle the apartheid state head-on, Vrye Weekblad investigated and published stories which exposed the involvement of state entities in torture, assassinations and bomb attacks of those opposed to apartheid.

A quarter of a century ago, Max was forced to close his newspaper’s door because no one really was interested in his far left view. We wonder how many supporters and readers he will gain from his own community?

The ANC’s senior members are the only people who have the right to choose the country’s president while millions of voters must be satisfied with it.

Analysts say the state of affairs should be changed so that voters themselves can decide which person they want to vote as president of the country.

The opinion was expressed that the largest political party has the sole right to decide which of its members should be the president, while not taking into account expertise and reliability.

The upcoming election suggests that the Finance Minister will not make significant tax adjustments, as increased taxes could cost the ANC too many votes.

Loadshedding left a trail of destruction in South Africa, weakening the poor economy by at least R10bn; this should be a costly lesson for the Ramaphosa government

The five days of loadshedding last week left a trail of destruction in South Africa, and should be an expensive lesson for the Ramaphosa government.

It was a week in which transformers exploded, damaging equipment in homes and industries, virtually irreparably damaging substations and even weakening the poor economy by at least R10bn.

The load shed reached its end on Friday when Eskom got diesel again to start its generators who had been idle for days because there was no fuel.

In Johannesburg, there were at least ten neighborhoods for hours without power, which led to the water supply stalling, leaving thousands of people distressed, but elsewhere in the country there was chaos reported in the media.

However, whether the load shedding is finally finished, experts are doubted as it will take a long time before everything returns to an “almost normal” period.

SA’s largest township owes Eskom R17 billion – Soweto residents respond: Hell no, we won’t pay for electricity!

City Press visits Soweto and asks residents why they don’t pay for their electricity and how they could help Eskom to recoup the R17 billion owed by the people who live in SA’s largest township.

On Wednesday morning, as load shedding hit the township of 1.3 million residents, small businesses were losing money, and children had been sent home by their teachers, who said they couldn’t teach in a blackout.

While some people City Press spoke to paid their electricity bills and knew that their nonpaying neighbours were contributing to the crisis, others were steadfast in their refusal to pay for the power they used.

What a check! These kids want everything on a silver platter for free – UKZN students burn mattresses in protest over ‘uncomfortable’ beds – African mentalism is destroying our country

Fed up with the poor condition of their beds, University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) education students have resorted to setting them on fire.

Students at a university residence in Hospital Road, near Durban’s South Beach, burnt the metal frames of their beds on Sunday night to voice their dissatisfaction.

On Monday morning, burning mattresses were seen being flung out of windows at the residence, occupied by education students from the UKZN’s Edgewood campus. The protest resulted in lectures at the campus being cancelled.

Student representative council (SRC) president Sanele Hlongwa told TimesLIVE that they set their beds alight because they could no longer sleep on them.

“For ages now, students have been asking that their beds be changed. The building at Hospital Road is a university-owned building. The university has changed the beds at residences on campus. The same must be applied to off-campus residences,” said Hlong

ANC-regime is blatantly misusing our money on its own election campaign, the Free State SOPA expenditure is going to cost the taxpayer more than R2 million

The Free State’s State of the Province Address (SOPA) will probably cost taxpayers more than R2 million. The greater part of the expense was not budgeted for nor planned and yet the money has already been squandered without the necessary approval.

The extravagant expense becomes even more unacceptable and fruitless when one takes into account that there will be another SOPA after the elections later this year.

The ANC is misusing taxpayers’ money by furthering its own election campaign with official government functions.

This year’s SOPA, which will be held on Tuesday at the University of the Free State’s Vista campus, will once again be characterised by excessive expenditure. The service provider’s fee for organising the event currently amounts to approximately R1,8 million.

Eskom and SA are paying an expensive price for ANC’s Affirmative Action Policy – white experienced and knowledgeable engineers are missing from the state entity and now experts have to come from abroad to save Eskom

Eskom and the government’s unwavering attitude to applying Affirmative Action (RA) is now costing South Africa. Due to RA, experienced and knowledgeable engineers have left Eskom and now the Minister of Public Enterprises, Mr. Pravin Gordhan, are asking them to help save Eskom.

The Freedom Front Plus has long warned that RA is harmful to Eskom, but also to South Africa. The concern has already emerged from a parliamentary question in 2011 by the leader of the Freedom Front Plus, dr. Pieter Groenewald, to the Minister of Public Enterprises, about the number of engineers, artisans and technicians who left Eskom.

According to the minister’s reply, from 2008 to March 2011, 455 engineers, of whom 110 were white, resigned from Eskom, and 13 were retired, 11 of whom were white. In the same period, 342 technicians resigned and 38 retired. (See attached reply from minister).

Biggest technical training university in SA is on the verge of collapse due to chaos and corruption

The Minister of Education and Authorities was asked to investigate allegations of fraud, death threats, corruption and nepotism at the Vaal University of Technology (VUT).

VUT is currently one of the largest technical training universities in the country with 20,000 students.

Allegations of conflict between high-ranking officials have long been made in press reports.

According to reports, the institution is on the verge of collapse due to large-scale financial plundering. The previous Vice-Chancellor, Mpho Diago, resigned this week amid death threats over his alleged “whistle-blowing” around corruption and mismanagement.

During the ANC regime, roughly R500 billion has been looted by Eskom contractors, which partly explains why South Africa is in such a big financial mess – it is unsure if the culprits will be brought to justice

A Special Investigation Unit is currently investigation more than eleven contractors whom are suspected of robbing the power utility of billions of rand.

The contractors looted R130 billion from Eskom during the construction of the two new power stations, Medupi and Kusile as well as the Ingula power station.

From the so-called “inner circles” it is claimed that plundering at Eskom has been taken place since 2005, which partly explains why South Africa has ended up in a financial mess.

A spokesman said Eskom had been robbed of R170bn, of which R130bn was directly related to so-called contractors working at the different power plants.

Investigation is now being done to determine who has committed theft, and who worked within Eskom to benefit the thieves.

It’s no secret anymore that high ranking ANC members are involved in the huge corruption and fraud that SA’s economy is currently suffering from

News highlights over the past year are increasingly seized by reports of high-ranking ANC supporters and government members involved, or suspended, or redeployed.

Every violation is due to misconduct, bribery and sexual harassment. Zuma and the Guptas were among the main role players.

The latest case is known as the ANC’s acting spokesperson, Zizi Kodwa, accused of rape by the ANC.

It only follows a week after Pile Mabe was found innocent by the ANC of sexual harassment, which is to many opinion makers’ expectations.

The ANC has referred the charge against Kodwa to law enforcement officers as the matter is “private”.

It could not be confirmed whether the complainant is also an ANC member. Kodwa is stating that the charges made against  him is done to political manipulate him and as well as an attempt of extortion.
