Gangsterism and cutting off your nose to spite your face, seems to be a recurring theme in #TheAfricanWay: Amsterdam in Mpumalanga has instituted its own internal electricity revolving power cuts, of 5 hours per day, and the Mayor refuses to speak English at community feedback meetings.

The Mkhondo (Piet Retief) municipality serving Amsterdam in Mpumalanga has now also instituted “internal” load shedding on top of Eskom’s own load shedding. The community is in uproar over an additional 5 hours per day load shedding, on top of the scheduled Eskom load shedding. Giel Coetzer, a businessman in town says his business is at a standstill and everyone’s food and meat is rotting in their fridges. The local mayor, Vusi Motha, was supposed to address a multiracial meeting of both black and white residents last week, but he and other officials arrived an hour and a half late. Eskom’s #RollingBlackouts Schedule Collapses into Chaos Leaving Traffic Lights Dead in Rush Hour Despite Promises!

Eskom’s rolling blackout load shedding system, and its published schedules, have completely collapsed, causing so much chaos that no one is sure anymore when load shedding will be applied in a particular area, further exacerbating the energy crisis. Yet still it tries to pretend it is business as usual…

The embattled power supplier is currently enforcing its Phase 2 program of rolling power cuts nationwide, and had announced with great fanfare that city traffic will be “assisted” at peak times, by not applying power cuts from 6:00 to 9:00 in the morning, and then again from 16:00 in the afternoon to 18:00 to ensure that “dead” traffic lights do not allow traffic jams.

It worked one morning, and then not again, which made workers, industrialists, motorists businessman and even housewives hot under he collar.

Should Electricity Users Pay Eskom Direct? Eskom Losing a BILLION a Month Because Corrupt Municipal Councilors Steal User’s Electricity Payments!

Due to the to the default on forwarding payments by municipalities, Eskom is moving further into the red every month at a staggering rate of almost R1 BILLION every month! However, apart from SOWETO where users refuse to pay, most users do pay, but their payments get intercepted by corrupt Municipalities where the money is taken and fraudulently spent on luxuries and personal expenses of councilors.

According to the latest record, the debt burden from municipalities is more than R24 BILLION at Eskom, the large majority of it from SOWETO, which is a clear reason why the entity went bankrupt. The interest due on that must be phenomenal, if that is one could expect it to ever be paid. Instead the banksters get rich on interest by lending Eskom money.

But economic advisers say Eskom is partly responsible for the situation, because if it had applied proper credit control, at most one month’s electricity bill would have been outstanding for each municipality.Continue reading…

Bankrupt power supplier is struggling to maintain electricity grid and diesel generator units are used to prevent #rollingblackouts

Eskom has now gone so far as to use its emergency reserves in an effort to evade load shedding.

The diesel generator units have been used to prevent the burning of candles, but the diesel fuel bill is already more than 50% over the entity’s allowable diesel consumption according to its budget.

Workers claim they worked hard on Wednesday night to pump water so the entity on Thursday could avoid shedding.

Observers believe these are probably the first signs of a new breeze blowing through Eskom, as no one has taken much responsibility to date on whether to light the candles and when it’s going to change.

Last year’s load shedding cost Amcor about R740m, directly affecting the net profit to be shown at the end of a financial year.

SA’s expected economic growth is adjusted to 0.9% for 2020 – ANC regime is responsible for SA being in such a mess

The World Bank has just adjusted South Africa’s projected economic growth to 0.9% for 2020 amid the uncertainty surrounding Eskom and load shedding. The 1.3% growth that the World Bank initially predicted for 2019 has now also been adjusted to 0.4%.

In spite of these realities, the ANC clings to the ideology that got us into this troubled position. President Ramaphosa explains what their approach to state-owned companies, so-called strategic assets, will remain:

“As we do this, we are clear that the state will retain ownership of all those state-owned enterprises that are strategic. This is so that these entities are able to perform the crucial economic and developmental functions that the market would not own be able to perform. ”

#TheAfricanWay – SA Faces Extended #RollingBlackouts Due to Collapsing Infrastructure Yet Eskom Secretly Wants To Pay R1,8 BILLION (R88,000 per employee) in Performance Bonuses!

#ParasiticParastatal Eskom seems to have a strange idea about what a performance bonus is and why it actually gets paid. It secretly wants to spend R1,8 BILLION on performance bonuses for the current and following 2 years, even as we face phase 4-6 “load shedding” at the moment and it seems like daily rolling blackouts will be with us for quite some time.

According to Rapport Eskom did not disclose this fact to the public and NERSA (National Energy Regulator of South Africa) found out about this all by itself. It is not a new occurrence either as in 2017 Eskom paid out R4, 2 BILLION in bonuses, so they cannot claim ignorance. If that amount is evenly divided amongst Eskom’s 47658 employees, it amounts to R88,000 per employee!

In 2016 bonuses amounted to R2,1 BILLION. Last year Eskom did not want to give bonuses but were forced to give R10,000 each to more than 30,000 employees after they were convinced to go on strike. That amount was on top

Debt ridden Eskom shutting down power plants it can’t afford to fix and increasing the risk of #rollingblackouts- We can thank the incompetent ANC-regime for this!

Eskom has permanently shut down several power generation units at older power stations due to its inability to fix them, the Sunday Times reports.

This decision has cut the power utility’s available electrical capacity to meet demand, which may increase the risk of load-shedding going forward.

Eskom said that the old power generation units at Hendrina, Grootvlei, and Komati which have been taken offline are not included in the utility’s current generation capacity of 46,000MW, despite not being formally decommissioned.

After shutting down older power plants, Eskom said it planned to resolve the problems at its newest Medupi and Kusile power stations, which have cost the company a significant amount while producing disappointing results.
Massive debt

Despite posting a R1.3-billion profit in the six months through September 2019, Eskom anticipates a R20-billion loss for the full year.

Eskom problems not solved yet – Possibility of load shedding exists in the coming months

The DA said in a statement on Thursday that it had reliably heard that Eskom had issued a warning to municipalities about the “strong possibility of load shedding in September and October” this year.

Natasha Mazzone, DA’s shadow minister of public affairs,  said in the statement that the opposition party has now written to Eskom chairman Jabu Mabuza for transparency in order to clarify the matter.

“Eskom has continually failed in its mandate to provide reliable and sustained electricity supply and it appears as if millions of South Africans and the faltering economy will be abandoned by Eskom again,” says Mazzone.

According to the statement, each load-bearing phase is estimated to cost the country about R1 billion a day.

“Eskom has repeatedly plunged our country into deep trouble. South Africa cannot afford a repeat of the load shedding of the country earlier this year, ”says Mazzone.

Rolling Blackouts on the cards as AMCU threaten secondary strike , AMCU represents about half of coal mine workers in SA

The tussle between Sibanye-Stillwater and the Association of Mineworkers and Construction Union (AMCU) has reached new heights.

The trade union, whose membership also includes coal mine workers, has teased a secondary strike and this could affect load shedding too.

Why is AMCU set to embark on a secondary strike?
AMCU president, Joseph Mathunjwa, made it abundantly clear that the upcoming strike has to be felt on a national scale. The plan is to render the entire country to a complete standstill.

This, according to Mathunjwa, is the only way to make the government — particularly the Minister of Mineral Resources, Gwede Mantashe — heed their calls for a moratorium at Sibanye-Stillwater.

Mantashe, on Thursday, revealed that his department would be engaging with the gold producer after it revealed its intentions to retrench more than 6 000 workers.

BE WARNED SOUTH-AFRICANS!! After the load-shedding come water shortages – Still people will be voting for the ANC this coming election

It’s not just load-shedding you have to worry about, the city of Johannesburg has warned. You could also be in for water cuts.

The metro warned that water shortages could follow load-shedding.

“As we continue to experience load-shedding across the country, Johannesburg Water is working alongside City Power to ensure that residents do not have to face water cuts as well,” said MMC for environment and infrastructure services Nico de Jager.

He says that when load-shedding of four or more hours is experienced, some areas could have water shortages or low water pressure.

“This is because Johannesburg Water uses electricity to pump water from the reservoirs into the towers,” he said.
