Prasa may lose 13 unused locomotives worth R2.6 billion due to dispute over ownership

The thirteen locomotives that are not suitable for driving on the South African rail network because the huge machines are too high will now become a dispute over whose property it is.

The 13 Afro-4000 locomotives are now in the balance and Prasa will have to fight to make them his property, informed sources said.
The extremely expensive locomotives generated prominence when it became known that they were too high to move on certain rail lines, for which they were purchased.

The amount of R2.6 billion is up for grabs and will probably have to decide in court who owns Prasa or Swifambo.

Anti-mass immigration violence is raging in SA despite the ANC president’s declaration that action will be taken on offenders

Violence against foreigners escalated this past weekend amid the ANC president’s statement that action will be taken against the perpetrators.

Even more businesses were targeted over the weekend and police rubber bullets and grenades could not stop the angry residents from continuing with their looting.

Police have confirmed that a renewed wave of xenophobia has erupted, and many foreigners’ shops and property have been looted and stripped of their goods.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian government is considering retaliation by nationalizing the larger businesses there. Institutions such as MTN and Shoprite could possibly be in the running.

Public Protector is being sued for R350 000 – this while she’s still unable to pay the previous claims

A complainant who allegedly approached the Public Protector, Busisiwe Mkhwebane, about an incident 10 years ago now wants to file a claim of R350,000 against her because she was unwilling to investigate the matter.

The complainant allegedly made a case against a senior member of the Limpopo Office of the Public Protector, and won the case.
The complainant, one Nchaube Peter Seabi, alleges that the head of the OB office in the northern province, Hamilton Samuel, insulted in the OB office in 2011 but that the Public Protector refused to investigate the matter.

However, the matter is quite confused, and whether the complainant can be a strong case against the PP will learn the time.

‘Legacy of apartheid’ to blame for anti mass immigration violence says minister Naledi Pandor

International relations minister Naledi Pandor met ambassadors and high commissioners from Africa on Monday to ease tensions after a diplomatic fallout triggered by attacks on foreign nationals that have rocked the country.

Pandor told the diplomats, among other explanations, that the legacy of apartheid which caused economic inequalities in the country was to blame for locals losing their cool with their African brothers and sisters in a scramble for crumbs.

This phenomenon was among a “toxic mix of socio-economic challenges” and should not be overlooked if long-term solutions were to be found to the current crisis, she said.

It was the same situation of poverty, lack of skills and economic inequalities in other African countries that continued to push migrants to the south in a quest for economic opportunities, said the minister.

Zuma found guilty to a charge of defamation and must pay R500,000 to former minister Derek Hanekom

Jacob Zuma, the ANC’s former president, who was busy with corruption during his reign, was found guilty in court of naming his former minister, Derek Hanekom.

Zuma allegedly said on the social network that Hanekom was an old spy of the enemy, which led to a court case in which Hanekom claimed R500,000 against Zuma.

The court ruled that Zuma should remove the offended comment on the social network, and he must properly apologize to Hanekom for his false accusation.

His legal representatives filed an appeal on Friday in an effort to set aside the Natal Supreme Court’s finding.

Judge Dhaya Pillay ordered Zuma to apologize to Derek Hanekom within 24 hours and remove the entry on the social network earlier, and is also responsible for the court costs.

Zuma’s lawyers say he did not portray Hanekom as a spy, but only as an agent of the enemy.

Anti-mass immigration violence forces Nigeria to nationalize some of its SA businesses such as Shoprite and MTN

The xenophobic attacks in Gauteng on foreigners, and the looting of their businesses have now taken on an international turn.

Nigeria is considering nationalizing businesses such as Shoprite and MTN.

In its latest report, Bloomberg pointed out the rough times that might await South Africa if the most popular businesses, such as MTN, might be nationalized.

The Nigerian “All Progressive Congress Party” chairman said in a video recording also broadcast on the radio and TV channels that it would be advantageous for Nigeria to nationalize thriving South African businesses because of their insensitive actions against Nigerian businessmen .

The focus is clearly on MTN, which has a profitable industry in Nigeria, and that may even include Shoprite’s stores.

MTN has invested millions of Rand in the West African state, and is now becoming the first possibility of nationalization.

SA economy worse under Ramaphosa regime than during Zuma era

According to Sakeliga’s CEO Piet le Roux, the political risk is currently worse than during Jacob Zuma’s reign. In a poll, 25% of respondents indicated that they were already moving portions of their operations to foreign ‘ports’.

A further 24% intend to “relocate” within the next three years. This diversification is seen as a hedging strategy.

Le Roux says that Ramaphosa’s hopes, plans and rhetoric are losing steam and that his term is characterized by social instability, riots, deteriorating business conditions and discriminatory policies such as Black Economic Empowerment.

Political analysts also point out that of all the many jobs that will be created, and the many foreign investments that would come in, just now come from, and it is striking how quiet the president has become over the business

Violence in South Africa has increased to such an extent that citizens across the country are pleading with the communist-minded ANC government to bring back the death penalty.

The spate of rapes occurring across the country has caused women and even members of parliament to ask that the death penalty should be reinstated so that the culprits will get the punishment that they deserve for such hideous crimes.

However, the ANC’s Minister of Correctional Services is not so keen to take the step, and several Afrikaner folks believe this is not a solution to the problem.

The country is experiencing more than 55 murders a day, and rapes that are rising at an unprecedented rate, while hijackings and armed robberies have become commonplace.

Gwede Manthase became the laughingstock at a conference in Australia by making scandalous mistake in delivering a April’s joke as part of his speech

The Minister of Mineral Resources, Gwede Mantashe, became the laughingstock of the world with his speech at a conference in Australia.

The speech written by someone then made the outrageous mistake of inserting an April joke as part of the speech, which indicates that South Africa had discovered a new mineral, and he couldn’t boast enough about this new wonderful discovery.

The April joke also states that the new mineral has been discovered in the Western Cape, and the minister says the mineral is essential for the production of battery storage technology.

The nonsensical joke proclaimed to be the truth made listeners in the conference wonder if the speaker was going senile, as it had nothing to do with the actual topic of the conference.

The information originally came from an April joke that was handled by an extremely ignorant speech author, and an ignorant minister in a laughable way.

Cabinet will discuss calls for return of death penalty amid rising violence against women in SA

Justice minister Ronald Lamola has promised to take calls for a referendum for the return of the death sentence to the cabinet.

The calls have been made amid the background of rising violence against women in the country, particularly in the wake of the brutal rape and murder of student Uyinene Mrwetyana, which brought the question of gender-based violence and femicide back into the spotlight.

Lamola and minister for women in the presidency Maite Nkoana-Mashabane were addressing the media on Tuesday.

Lamola said he could not decide alone whether or not to bring back the death penalty, but that all he could do was to take the matter to cabinet for discussion – and then for approval or disapproval.

“Whether we are open to referendum or not, at this stage I cannot say… It is something we can take further as a discussion to the cabinet,” said Lamola.
