Head of SASSA under investigation after being accused of abusing his power for financial gain

Accusations are made that Themba Matlou, who heads the Social Security Agency (Sassa) in the Central Transvaal, used his office to campaign for a provincial position in the ANC.

Allegations are also being made that he used the state’s resources and finances for the campaign, and the Public Protector will now investigate the allegations.

He is also accused of abusing his power as chief officer by harming people who disagree with his views.

It is not known who filed the complaint with the Public Protector’s office on November 5, but the OB office apparently wrote a letter to obtain further information on the charges.

The complainant claims that Themba Matlou also approved that transport and hotel accommodation be paid for one of his “loved ones”.

Those who are not in favor of the ANC are delighted with the developments: Power struggle amidst ANC ranks – Cadres are turning against each other for office

A complaint filed at the Office of the Public Protector sheds some light on the fierce power struggle in the ranks of the ANC and its government.

The complainant who prefers to remain anonymous claims that Minister Lindiwe Sisulu is playing a chess game to get the deputy president removed from office to take office herself.

The Office of the Public Protector declined to comment on the complaint, strengthening the suspicion that such a complaint was received by Busisiwe Mkhwebane.

According to reports, Minister Lindiwe Sisulu is appointing loyal supporters in her department with the intention of pushing David Mabuza out of office as vice president and then taking the seat herself.

The move suggests that it puts her in a strong position to succeed Ramaphosa, especially if Mabuza’s influence is illuminated and the ANC president will receive much less support without his deputy’s influence.

Public Protector is being sued for R350 000 – this while she’s still unable to pay the previous claims

A complainant who allegedly approached the Public Protector, Busisiwe Mkhwebane, about an incident 10 years ago now wants to file a claim of R350,000 against her because she was unwilling to investigate the matter.

The complainant allegedly made a case against a senior member of the Limpopo Office of the Public Protector, and won the case.
The complainant, one Nchaube Peter Seabi, alleges that the head of the OB office in the northern province, Hamilton Samuel, insulted in the OB office in 2011 but that the Public Protector refused to investigate the matter.

However, the matter is quite confused, and whether the complainant can be a strong case against the PP will learn the time.

Cyril Ramaphosa, Minister Bheki Cele and Minister Tito Mboweni NAMED AND SHAMED

Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane named and shamed those that defied her instructions today and the top names include Cyril Ramaphosa, Minister Tito Mboweni and Minister Bheki Cele.

“If you are a minister, you should be respecting the Constitution and the rule of law.”

With fifty top heads of state outlined including the President, the Finance Minister and Police Minister how should the nation feel about our leaders….trusting and confident?

Mkhwebane said despite budget constraints, she is forced to take various matters to court to force state organs into action.

“We’re here to support and strengthen our constitutional democracy. We are not here to be antagonistic.”

Mbalula receives R680,000 for family vacation in Dubai, it is not sure whether taxpayers have funded a portion of holiday

Despite the findings by the Public Protector that Mbalula has received at least R300,000 from Sedgars Sport for a family vacation in Dubai, the ANC still declared their full confidence in him. The National Prosecuting Authority has indicated that they will check the OB’s report before deciding whether to prosecute.

The ride cost R680,000 and it is still unknown who paid for the balance.

Observers believe that the ANC president has not yet realized that it is the irregularities that pinch South Africa’s economy because foreign investors perceive all the horrors.
