The Emirates Palace hotel in Abu Dhabi where the Gupta family are reportedly hosting a lavish double wedding in February 2019.

The Guptas are reported to be hosting a lavish double wedding at a palatial hotel in Abu Dhabi.

The AmaBhungane Centre for Investigative Journalism published a nine-page wedding invitation on Friday and said the bash, an event lasting five days between February 19 and 23, could end up costing as much as R100m.

“The wedding is a double-feature, with Rajesh ‘Tony’ Gupta’s daughter Shubhangi Singhala marrying Chetan Jain and Atul Gupta’s son Srikant Singhala tying the knot with Akhya Bansal.

“This is the third publicly lavish wedding the family has funded,” said AmaBhungane.

The logos of Gupta companies in South Africa, including the Koornfontein mine where miners have gone unpaid, are featured in the wedding invitation.

WHO DIDN’T CHECK THE CALENDAR? – Ramaphosa just killed Indaba 2019 – Biggest tourism expo to take place on the general election date

Ramaphosa stood up in Parliament on Thursday and emphasized the importance of tourism. And then he killed 2019 tourism.

When he decided on a general election on 8 May, didn’t any body bother to look at the calendar? Indaba, the biggest tourism expo in South Africa, usually the destination for foreign investors and visitors, takes place on 8 May.

And arrangements are now too far to re-schedule or postpone. Cancelling would cost millions, not only in wasted funds, but in lost revenue.

A number of influential people in the tourism world indicated that they will not be attending this year, on the one hand because they need to be home for voting day, on the other: Why go to the expense of setting up a stall at Indaba if nobody is going to be there?

Ramaphosa just killed Indaba 2019. And the tourism industry will feel the effects. How is it possible that such elementary things cannot be considered while trying to govern a country?

The South African Communist Party says Eskom’s management is rolling out massive blackouts in an attempt to blackmail South Africans to accept privatisation of the power utility.

Eskom resumed with loadshedding for the first time this year on Sunday.

Power cuts continued yesterday and Tuesday after a failure of generating units.

“The management of Eskom, in the manner that they are rolling out these blackouts, is trying to blackmail us so we must accept whatever should befall Eskom. We should not be blackmailed into that. That’s why we believe that these blackouts can be avoided,” SACP first deputy general secretary Solly Mapaila stated.

Mapaila said one of reasons given by Eskom for load shedding was low stocks of diesel.

Medupi units drowning in ash as contractor forced to withdraw – Shows Eskom’s failure to operate the plant at the completed units properly – Just one more accomplishment of the ANC- regime

The five power generation units at Eskom’s troubled new Medupi power station that have been operational are drowning in ash after Clyde Bergemann Africa (CBZ), which was contracted to supply and construct the dust handling units, withdrew its staff from the power station.

CBZ managing director Jeremy Kirsch confirmed to Moneyweb on Monday that the business was placed in business rescue last week, days after he spoke out about what he described as Eskom’s failure to operate the plant at the completed units properly.

CBZ has long-term maintenance contracts on eight other Eskom power stations, Kirsch told Moneyweb. CBZ staff are still on site at those power stations, he said.

EE Publishers managing editor Chris Yelland however reported last week that these workers are “on tenterhooks” and could down tools at any time.

Over 2000 children in the community are affected by the suspension of the services and the number is exclusive of the families the society assists.

Staff at Child Welfare Kempton Park downed tools on January 28 due to financial challenges, Kempton Express reports.

A notice at the society’s premises reads: “Dear clients kindly note that our services are temporarily suspended indefinitely as from January 28, due to financial challenges faced by the Child Welfare Kempton Park.”

The media spoke to the society’s board treasurer Nthombisine Mhlambi, who said: “The staff hadn’t been paid three months’ salary because there were no funds.”

Mhlambi also told the media staff were only paid a month’s salary on February 4 but couldn’t confirm when the services would resume.

Staff members, however, told the media they would not return to work until they were back paid for the other months they were not paid.

Motsoaledi het Dinsdag op ’n mediakonferensie waar ’n verslag oor die beraadslaging op ’n spitsberaad oor die krisis in die gesondheidsorgsektor uitgereik is, nie die vraag beantwoord oor of die kabinet die NGV-wetsontwerp al goedgekeur het nie.

Wag en wees geduldig, was dr. Aaron Motsoaledi, minister van gesondheid, se antwoord op ’n vraag oor hoe ver die wetsontwerp oor nasionale gesondheidsversekering (NGV) van klaar is voordat dit in die parlement ter tafel gelê word.

Hy het ook te kenne gegee die oponthoud met die markondersoek na die private gesondheidsbedryf hou tans die wysigingswetsontwerp oor die Wet op Mediese Fondse terug.

“Die benadering was nog altyd wanneer alles klaar is, gaan dit parlement toe en dan word ’n aankondiging gemaak. Dis hoe dit met alle wetsontwerpe is. Ek verstaan nie hoekom dit nou anders moet wees nie,” het Motsoaledi gesê.

SA Prisons cant keep criminals inside anymore and it gets easier to escape confinement- Five suspects break out of prison in Mbombela by breaking the cell wall

MBOMBELA – Five suspects are at large after they escaped from the cells in Nelspruit Police Station on Friday night.

They somehow managed to break a piece of a cement slab inside a cell and use it to break the wall.

Capt Zandile Qwaga, Nelspruit police spokesman, confirmed that the incident occurred at around 23:55.

She explained that they somehow managed to break a piece of a cement slab inside a cell and use it to break the wall. Once through the wall, another wall stood between them and freedom, which was easily jumped. All but one suspect took to the streets.

Bongani Matsimbe, a 23-year-old among the escapees, was rearrested shorty after the incident. A witness saw him jump the wall, and he will now face additional charges after being rearrested. He was initially apprehended for possession of stolen property.

Protest actions and strike is becoming a norm in SA – Cosatu plans to bring economic activities in eight provinces  to a complete halt and stated: ‘We will march to show our anger’

The Congress of South African Trade Unions (Cosatu) plans to bring economic activities in eight provinces to a complete halt on Wednesday February 15, 2019.

The labour federation said the national shutdown was intentionally planned ahead of the budget speech, so that minister Tito Mboweni could respond to the labour sector concerns on job losses, which the federation says should guide his distribution of resources.

Cosatu spokesperson, Sizwe Pamla, said they were expecting thousands of workers to take part in the mass action, saying they would participate by simply staying at home and not going to work, while others would join picketing in major cities in eight provinces. He said the point of the strike was to bring everything to a standstill and cause as much inconvenience as possible, affecting both the public and private sector.

According to President Cyril Ramaphosa, it is clear that the country’s health care is in crisis and needs rehabilitation.

More than 75% of state hospitals budget goes for salaries that are severely affected by patients who are not receiving proper treatment due to a money shortage.

According to Ramaphosa, the National Health Insurance Act will soon be tabled, which will provide free health care to all regardless of where they call for medical care.

Experts point out that Zuma’s “free education” has plunged the country’s universities into chaos, and now its successor comes and wants to get the country’s total health care messed up.

The result of the policy will lead to chaos in private hospitals and may finally break the country’s economy.

What did South-Africans used before candles? Electricity! – Eskom is apparently technically bankrupt and its R420bn debt currently accounts for 15% of the country’s debt – will no longer exist at the current projection by April 2019

The Portfolio Committee of Public Enterprises heard at the hearing of the Department of Public Entities that Eskom was “technically bankrupt”.

Eskom will no longer exist at the current projection by April 2019.

The power supply’s R420bn debt burden currently accounts for 15% of the country’s debt and its revenue has increased fourfold since 2007 but its expenses, especially with staff overload, have exceeded revenue. Staff alone increased from 32,000 to 48,000 in eleven years.

Despite the increase in staff, critical knowledge was lacking, which resulted in 40% of interruptions at the different power stations being attributed to “human factors”.
