South Africa’s President Cyril Ramaphosa is the incoming new chair of the African Union for the year 2020.

South Africa’s President Cyril Ramaphosa is set to take over the chairmanship of the African Union for the year 2020, replacing Egypt’s Abdel Fattah el-Sisi who chaired the organization through 2019.

In his New Year’s address, the South African leader pledged to use the opportunity to rally Africa to actualize the Continental Free Trade Agreement, whose operational phase was launched in July in Niamey, Niger.

“From January, South Africa takes up its position as chair of the African Union. We will seek to work with our sister countries to realise an Africa Free Trade Area that stretches from Cape Town to Cairo, and from Dakar to Mombasa,” a statement from the South African presidency read.

409 Farm attacks and 56 farm murders in 2019 – Slaughter of white farmers in SA increases, especially in rural areas

The massacre in rural areas has increased in recent years, according to the latest available figures on farm attacks and murders.

Henry Geldenhuys, deputy president of the agricultural organization TAU SA, says that according to their statistics, there were 409 farm attacks in 2019 compared to 395 farm attacks in 2018, during the same period 56 murders on farms tenor 53 of the previous year. However, he continues by stating that the figures may be even higher as December is not over.

According to Geldenhuys, there were even farm attacks on Christmas Day in Harding respectively in KwaZulu-Natal, where a farmer was attacked with a knife, in Kakamas in the Northern Cape, where a family was attacked, and in Bapsfontein in Gauteng, where a farmer was assaulted. SA’s expected economic growth is adjusted to 0.9% for 2020 – ANC regime is responsible for SA being in such a mess

The World Bank has just adjusted South Africa’s projected economic growth to 0.9% for 2020 amid the uncertainty surrounding Eskom and load shedding. The 1.3% growth that the World Bank initially predicted for 2019 has now also been adjusted to 0.4%.

In spite of these realities, the ANC clings to the ideology that got us into this troubled position. President Ramaphosa explains what their approach to state-owned companies, so-called strategic assets, will remain:

“As we do this, we are clear that the state will retain ownership of all those state-owned enterprises that are strategic. This is so that these entities are able to perform the crucial economic and developmental functions that the market would not own be able to perform. ”

Convicted “racist”Vicki Momberg is suing the state for R8,5 million

Speaking to News24 on Thursday, Momberg’s lawyer, Anesh Sukdeo said her client was suing the South African Police Service (SAPS), justice ministers, provincial and national police commissioners as well as the National Director of Public Prosecutions (NDPP), for R8.5 Million for the unlawful arrest and detention effected on her on November 6.

Sukdeo said the R8.5 million claim includes R2.5 million for her unlawful arrest and detention from November 6 to December 27 at a rate of R50 000 per day, R1 million for defamation, pain, suffering and anguish, R2.5 million for malicious legal proceedings and another R2.5 million for wrongful and malicious legal proceedings.

The lawyer said while the police claimed there was a warrant of arrest instructing Momberg’s arrest on November 6, that was not the case and instead they had an “apprehension order”.

What does the ANC know about fitness? – Gyms and fitness trainers will be government regulated – and can be shut down – under a new draft plan

Gyms and fitness trainers will be answerable to a new body that will be set up by the minister of sport, under a new draft law – with the power to close down gyms and suspend the registration of fitness professionals if they break the rules.

The Fitness Industry Regulatory Authority is one proposal in the draft National Sport and Recreation Amendment Bill published for public comment in December. The law is intended to give the minister of sport more direct control of sporting codes and to create various new bodies, including one to regulate “combat sport” and a Sport Arbitration Tribunal.

But the change with the biggest impact would be the fitness regulator, which under the current draft has wide powers and responsibilities that seem to cover pretty much anything resembling a gym, and anyone who helps others get and stay fit in exchange for money.

Eskom is now clearly lying, obfuscating and playing with words after it came to light that they are planning to pay out R1, 8 billion in bonuses by saying that it is 13th cheques, not bonuses.

Take into consideration that it was Nersa – National Energy Regulator of South Africa – that called it bonuses in court papers, which is obviously statements made under oath.

Does Eskom now wants us to believe them over Nersa?
Eskom is now playing word and mind games with us by saying that it is 13th cheques, not bonuses . They also say that not all employees are entitled to these 13th cheques. That is where the lie alarm is going off and red flags are going up. What kind of employer does not give a uniform salary structure to its employees? Eskom also says. that employees can choose themselves if they want their total salary package to be divided into 12 or 13 cheques

So if we follow what Eskom has lied, we can then logically conclude that if an employee choose to have 13 pay packages per year and still gets an amount only intended for some employees, but not all, that amount only due for some is in fact a 14th cheque then.

Cash-strapped Road Accident Fund struggles to pay billions in outstanding debt – This is just another SOE that is collapsing under ANC-regime’s rule

As thousands of road accident victims are anxiously waiting to be compensated by the cash-strapped Road Accident Fund (RAF) following court orders in their favour, the Gauteng High Court, Pretoria, is expected to soon deal with the fund’s inability to pay up.

Hundreds of claimants recently turned to the court where they had obtained an urgent order to attach eight of the RAF’s Absa bank accounts. The bank was ordered to use the proceeds from the accounts to pay the 346 injured victims.

The RAF in turn headed to court last month, in which it wanted this order lifted, as it said it simply couldn’t afford to pay these claimants, as its outstanding debt was more than R17billion. The fund said it couldn’t operate without its bank accounts as it is was struggling to stay afloat.

This application was not entertained by the urgent court, which meant that the bank accounts remained attached. But it came to light that the RAF then instruct

12 Army members arrested for the disappearance of nineteen R4 assault rifles are set free on a mere warning

The military court released 12 army members with only a warning after they were arrested in connection with the disappearance of nineteen R4 assault rifles.

The army members were arrested between December 24 and 27, 2019 on charges of housebreaking, theft and negligent loss of firearms after the disappearance of the weapons from the storeroom on their base.

The suspects, including captains, lieutenants, sergeants, and staff sergeants, were denied bail a week ago because the investigating officer and the then presiding military judge feared they might interfere with the investigation and evidence. It was then postponed for further investigation until Friday.

Their release is subject to various conditions, including moving the four officers and eight deputy officers from the Lyttelton Tek base in Centurion to other units in the Pretoria area.

Zimbabwe had land expropriation as the spark that caused its economy to implode. South Africa has a slower, but equally insidious, government policy that is pushing it backwards in time: Black Economic Empowerment (BEE).

This warped system has enabled corrupt individuals to benefit personally from contracts as the country’s key services have steadily eroded. While BEE provided the mechanisms for state capture, the SA-specific term for wide-scale graft, it has also facilitated the spread of parasites that have, and continue to, suck the life-blood out of the country. This is the assessment of environmental expert Professor Anthony Turton, who warned some years back that Eskom was in critical condition – but no-one was listening. Now raw sewage flows in many streets and the electricity is turned off for hours on end, in what looks like a return of sorts to the dark ages, he points out.
