State hospital in KwaZulu Natal invested with monkeys – Monkeys invade kitchen and wards, sometimes even interfering with patients’ intravenous (IV) drips

Health minister Aaron Motsoaledi has appointed a task team to urgently tackle an invasion of monkeys at Durban’s RK Khan Hospital.

Motsoaledi flew to Durban on Wednesday to conduct a site visit at the state facility, which has long been grappling with the primates invading the hospital’s kitchen and, more recently, the wards.

He said he was extremely concerned and decided to take immediate action after watching a video on social media that shows monkeys roaming freely through a ward full of patients.

“The images I saw were disturbing. I just learnt this morning that the hospital was advised by some people who claim to know about monkeys not to interact with them or disturb them because they get aggressive,” said Motsoaledi.

“I don’t accept that type of advice – that monkeys can be just left among human beings, especially sick human beings, out of fear that they will get aggressive.”

R200 mill of drought relief monies intended for KwaZulu Natal gone missing – South Africa’s farmers find themselves in a crisis and as a result, our country’s food security and economy are also in crisis

The FF Plus is shocked and disgusted by the news that nearly R220 million, which was earmarked for drought relief in KwaZulu Natal, went missing. It is unclear how the money went missing and the FF Plus demands an urgent investigation into the matter so that the guilty parties can be called to account.

The drought has already taken its toll on the agricultural sector with livestock deaths and poor harvests being at the order of the day. There have been enormous livestock losses in the Free State, Northern Cape and Eastern Cape in particular and some of these parts have not had any rain since November 2017.

The government must urgently prioritise drought relief for commercial as well as emerging farmers. The government must also ensure that the process is managed properly so that the money allocated to drought relief is not stolen, as is the case in KwaZulu Natal.

Total recently found gas near the SA coast, it is highly unlikely the poor citizens of the country will benefit from this found, rather the obese corrupt civil servants of ANC regime

French oil company Total announced on Thursday morning that it had drilled a column of gas near the South African coast.

Total says the discovery is of great importance to the South African economy, and the possibility of low grade oil is not excluded.

The gas has been drilled about 175 kilometers from the south coast, which is considered a huge breakthrough.

However, the borehole had to be sunk 3,633 meters deep, but Total is satisfied that a good discovery has been made.

The drill was done by Total with its most modern equipment that made the discovery so much faster, and plans to continue its search for oil.

A song cut from one of motswako rapper Mo’ Molemi’s albums could provide the best evidence of just how long Mahikeng’s residents have endured driving on potholed streets.

The track Maspala (municipality) was supposed to have been included on the album Motsamai seven years ago.

In it, Molemi sings in Setswana: “Kere somebody thiba dipotholes, kara yame ya tlola every time I am on the road. Ke a go kopa maspala thiba di pothole; go konega rim every time I go home.”

Loosely translated, it says: “I say somebody fix the potholes; my car bounces every time I’m on the road. I beg of you municipality fix the potholes; rims get damaged every time I go home.”

National Health Insurance legislation will hit private hospital sector’s future investment and capital expenditure, NHI laws threaten 132,000 jobs

National Health Insurance (NHI), which the government is pushing as the solution to SA’s health crisis, could lead to the loss of up to 132,000 jobs, according to the country’s private hospital groups.

NHI, spearheaded by health minister Aaron Motsoaledi, is the government’s policy for introducing universal health coverage and aims to ensure everyone has access to healthcare that is free at the point of service.

The Hospital Association of SA (Hasa), which represents the private hospital sector, was among the industry groups that presented their views on the risks to the economy at last week’s Business Unity SA (Busa) meeting.

The gathering brought together business and government leaders, who have been trying to forge a closer relationship under the auspices of the Public Private Growth Initiative spearheaded by former politician Roelf Meyer and Toyota Europe and Africa CEO Johan van Zyl.

Ramaphosa’s share in SA’s dilapidated state is questioned and his latest press release is inconsistent: “I did not deliberately mislead Parliament about R500 000 Bosasa donation”

President Cyril Ramaphosa, in a statement to the Public Protector, says he “did not deliberately mislead Parliament” regarding the R500 000 Bosasa contribution to his 2017 ANC presidential campaign.

The statement follows Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane confirming on January 25 that she would investigate whether Ramaphosa had lied about a campaign donation received from controversial facilities company Bosasa, now known as African Global Operations (AGO).

Mkhwebane’s decision came after DA leader Mmusi Maimane and EFF leader Julius Malema on several occasions said that Ramaphosa had lied to Parliament about the money his ANC presidential campaign received from Bosasa CEO Gavin Watson. Ramaphosa met with Mkhwebane on January 29, to discuss the donation.

Bosasa has received billions of rands in government contracts over the past decade and has been implicated in alleged corruption.

In another huge loan of 33.4 billion rand the Chinese Exim Bank (Export-Import Bank of China) will take over the Eskom Facility Plant in South Africa. This was announced by a recent tweet from Exim Bank.

Eskom is a South African electricity public utility, established in 1923 as the Electricity Supply Commission. Eskom operates a number of notable power stations, including Kendal Power Station, and Koeberg nuclear power station in the Western Cape Province, the only nuclear power plant in Africa.

Eskom generates 95% of electricity in South Africa and has the only nuclear power station in Africa.

According to observers, the repair costs of errors at the Medupi and Kusile coal-powered power stations are already nearing R2 billion.

This puts the expected start up costs at R292 billion, which is twice the initial estimated cost. The device that grinds the coal, the furnaces and other systems at both plants does not function properly and is attributed to poor craftsmanship.

The two plants were erected by people who had never undertaken such an assembly project, and took it much longer to complete than initially calculated.

Far Left Helen Zille is suddenly tired of corruption in the country and now threatens to launch a “tax revolution”

Helen Zille says she will start with a tax boycott action if those who are guilty of corruption as found by the Zondo Commission are not going to be prosecuted.

Zille says she will launch a “tax revolution”, but meanwhile, the DA’s leaders have distanced themselves from Zille’s statement.

She also believes the same action is needed against all politicians and councilors guilty of bribery and fraud.

An ANC spokesman apparently later said Helen Zille was very close to treason when she made such talks.

South African commercial banks are basically prepared to help the instable SA Airways with R3.5bn as a lifeline.

The struggling airline needs the funds very urgently to meet his short-term obligations.

SAA’s Chief Executive Officer, Vuyani Jarana, says the amount is needed to maintain its operational duties until April.

Jarana, says it is clear that SAA is under “extremely difficult circumstances” and will not continue to function without the huge loan.

Meanwhile, ANC’s Cyril Ramaphosa, during his visit to India, said the SAA’s flights to the country should resume as well as the flights to the Emirates that were “stolen” from the SAA shipping company.
